Cairo Hotels and Accomodation Egypt
When planning your trip to the magical land of Egypt, it is vital to have your accommodation requirements in order before starting your journey. The more popular city of Cairo is especially busy and it is essential to get your desired hotel booked ii advance to prevent any disappointment on arrival.
Hotel prices just like any city, will vary depending on the area, facilities and amenities. Hotels are graded from 5 star deluxe to 1 star by the Egyptian Tourist Authority. It is advisable to try if possible to obtain a hotel of at least 3 stars in Egypt as the accommodation can be very standard and somewhat unpleasant in anything below this guide.
The main tourist hotels is Cairo can be located in the Garden City or on the Nile Gardens in the city centre. For a location closer to the airport, then the Heliopolis area would be best and is still close to all the major attractions.
For Budget hotels in Cairo the place you are best likely to find a reasonable, clean room would be in the city centre. The other area’s of the Giza and Heliopolis are more luxurious and fairly expensive.
There is one Youth Hostel in Cairo and this can be found in the Heliopolis area. For those younger travellers or those on a very tight budget, they might want to consider this as an option. The hostel offers the traveller clean accommodation, although the beds are not great and there are no rooms for couples or families. The dorms sleep three or six people and breakfast can be made available. There is an 11pm curfew in operation here, so this is not a good base for those seeking the Cairo nightlife.
Mid ranged hotels can be found in all of the named locations and offer reasonable prices with private amenities. The Shepherds Hotel was built in the 1950’s and is a five star hotel which is a great bargain should you be able to get booked here in time. The central location make it another great reason to stay.
The Odeon Central is another affordable and comfortable hotel within the city centre. There is even a busy bar and restaurant on the premises, so it makes eating and drinking simple.
For the more affluent, the Le Meridian Cairo is a modern luxurious hotel which offers all private amenities and a perfect central location. The sumptuousness chain hotel, Semiramis Inter Continental Cairo is another beautiful hotel for those that have no limit to their budget. Both the above hotels are quite pricey and you would be looking at least £200 per night for a room here.
There are also a selection of luxurious hotels in the Heliopolis and Giza regions. The Meridien Heliopolis is a sister hotel to the Meridien Cairo and is set in a landscaped garden and offer the traveller the most luxurious stay.
As budget and even mid ranged accommodation are few and far between in Cairo, make sure you get in there quick and book your room well in advance to travel.
