Entertainment on Egypt Holidays

There is no shortage of entertainment to be found in the thrilling country of Egypt.  After a hard day of visiting the many ancient relics and monuments, or a tough day lounging on a sun kissed beach,  what you really want to do is sit back, kick off those sandy sandals and relax in a scrumptious restaurant then take a stroll along the beach at sunset and then perhaps visit one of the many night clubs or bars to be found at your resort.
The beach resorts to be found along the sunny coast of Egypt have a number of restaurants, bars, disco’s and clubs on their premises.  It is up to you how many of these you visit, but it is nice to know that they are there should you suddenly have the urge to dance the night away.  The majority of holiday resorts have western style bars for their customers.  Even the night clubs and discos are western and the restaurants tend to offer western food, although most of them will have a small selection of authentic Egyptian recipes for you to sample.
As Egypt is a Muslim country, you may be concerned about the lack of alcohol available.  This is not a problem at the main tourist resorts.  Alcohol is readily available in all resorts and cities, so don’t let this deter you.  Although during the month of Ramadan when the Muslims of Egypt fast during the day and make up for this in the evening after sunset, it might be best to avoid eating or drinking in public at this time to prevent offending.
For the best eating houses, Cairo and Alexandria are the best places for you to visit.  The menu choices are much the same as you would find in any other western country or capital city, vast and pleasing.  What ever you fancy, there is a restaurant to suit.  Although it is highly recommended that you sample the delights of the local cuisine.  The fragrant herbs and spices used in the cooking make your dining experience a sumptuous treat. The price range for most restaurants can be fairly expensive, so for those travellers on a budget, it might be more advisable to visit a local restaurant rather than the larger chains to be found in the cities.
For those keen athletes you can take part in or observe the Egyptian Marathon which runs in January.  The starting point is located at the stunning Hatshepsut Temple near Luxor and is open to all even if you want to take it easy and walk, or perhaps skate.
The Arabic Music Festival takes place in Cairo at the Cairo Opera house during November.  This is a real treat and should be visited if you have the chance.  The variety and talent of music involved in this festival is astounding.  For those movie goers, there is also an International Film Festival held in Egypt during December where you can watch and take pleasure in the local cinema.
