The weather in Iceland is cold and snowy making it a perfect setting for various winter sports. The obvious choices are Skiing in the winter slopes of Blafjoll better known as Blue Mountain and the snowy mountainous district of Skalafell also provides ideal Skiing conditions. Using snowmobiles is an excellent way to view parts of Reykjavik and surrounding towns and villages. Organised tours are available which depart several days per week.

Iceland National Parks

National Parks add to Iceland’s natural beauty with so many to choose from it would be impossible to visit them all. The most visited Parks are Skaftafell National Park and Jokulsargljufur National Park complete with canyons, waterfalls, Flora and fauna.

Other Activities

A visit to Iceland wouldn’t be complete without the chance to bathe in one of the many outdoor swimming pools or hot springs such as the famous Blue Lagoon. Surprisingly the water is heated by a nearby springs providing warm temperatures which is described as being like bath water.

Whale watching out to sea by organised boat tour departs daily from Reykjavik harbour. You can expect to view some of Iceland’s beautiful wildlife like dolphins, minke whales, puffins and blue whales.
